The Alabama AGC and its Young Constructor's Forum set a world record December 17, 2003 by building a house for Shelby County Habitat for Humanity in 3 hours, 26 minutes and 34 seconds, eclipsing the mark of 3:44:59 set in 1999 in New Zealand.

The AGC and its members took on the project in mid August and by 2:21 p.m. the day of the build, 150 skilled craftsmen representing 50 contracting and supply companies had completed the 1,100-square-foot home at the end of a cul-de-sac in a Montevallo subdivision developed by Shelby County Habitat for Humanity.

Dubbed "The World's Fastest House," this construction project was handled somewhat differently than most Habitat houses in that it was built by professional craftsmen and not volunteers. Through the AGC and the YCF, Brice Building Co. and 47 other AGC-member companies in the Birmingham area pooled their talents to build a three-bedroom, two-bath house.
